Silent Refrigeration

A refrigerator uses a traditional heat pump. A compressor is powered usually by electricity and that circulates a “refrigerant” like freon or some synthetic version through some tubes that go through heat exchangers – the bottom line is that is pulls the heat out of the fridge to make it cold.

An AC is just another variation of this as is all other heat pump technologies such as heat pump hot water heaters. Some give you cold while expelling the heat and some give you heat while expelling the cold.

Heat pumps are a really great technology and are very reliable and have made our lives much easier. There are a few drawbacks such as the noise and occasional maintenance due to moving parts.

Phononic is a company, which has eliminated these problems by building a completely silent and solid state refrigerator using hundred year old Peltier junctions…they’re semiconductors basically that get hot on one side and cold on the other.

Peltier’s definitely work but their drawback is that they are very inefficient…it takes a lot of watt hours to produce any substantial heating or cooling, but Phononic has scaled them up and have made them more efficient than ever. Normally, they’re under 10% efficient, but now they’re over 30%!

Phononic heat pump

Even at 30%, they can’t compete with heat pumps in terms of Coefficient of Performance (COP), but being that they are much smaller than normal compressor heat pumps and they’re silent, they do have their place.

While this advancement in Peltier technology isn’t going to get anyone off the grid, it is a very welcome improvement as a three times increase in efficiency in anything doesn’t happen every day.

To put that into perspective – the automobile engine was commonly under 20% efficient and the newest cars on the road today are lucky to achieve 30% efficiency – and that is over many, many decades of automotive advancements.

Robert L. “Bob” Sewell – Regenerative Electric Car Inventor

It’s difficult to say who developed the first electric car that charges it’s own batteries by coasting down a hill and having the motor become a generator.

One thing is for sure, in the 1950’s, Bob Sewell, of Spokane, Washington, retrofit a 1947 Crosley Station Wagon with an aircraft starter motor that exactly accomplishes these regenerative methods and he did it as an Electrical Engineering student at the University of Idaho.

It made national news and was even featured in a full page story in the November 1957 issue of Popular Mechanics. See it here: November 1957 Popular Mechanics

Bob Sewell
In a popular article about electric cars back in 1960, which was published in the Saturday Evening Post, Bob Sewell is even mentioned in the same paragraph as the legend Charles Proteus Steinmetz. Apparently, Steinmetz had worked out the regenerative electric car back in 1913.

As the subject heats up, ideas keep popping out: Why not put electric chargers on parking meters, an extra dime giving a parked car ten miles of recharge while it waits? Why not design the motor to become a generator going downgrade, recharging the battery and helping to brake the car? Charles P. Steinmetz, the electrical wizard, had that worked out in 1913. Robert Sewell, an engineering student at the University of Idaho last year, now with Washington Water Power, has applied this idea to an electrified Crosley station wagon.

See the original article: Are Electric Cars Coming Back?

Bob recently passed away so there is a lot we’ll never get to share with each other in regards to some fun and exciting electrical experiments. He definitely had a sparkle in his eye when I told him about some of the work of Eric Dollard, Jim Murray and others we’re involved with. Whenever Eric Dollard stayed at my home, he parks his car in perfect view for Bob to see all the antennas on it – something Bob could appreciate as a Ham Radio operator. Bob Sewell was my neighbor.

I’ll always remember him waving at me every time he drove by my house in his little maroon PT Cruiser, literally driving about 2 miles per hour. Happy travels Bob!

Robert L. “Bob” SEWELL (06/07/1934 – 11/07/2014)

SEWELL, Robert L. “Bob” 1934 – 2014 Passed away November 7th 2014, at his home in Spokane, WA of natural causes. His wife of 54 years, Helen (Pugh), preceded Robert in death in May 2010. Robert is survived by son Donald (Kathy Rigsby-Sewell); grandson Tyler (12); daughter Mary Ann Sewell-Driftmeyer (Todd); and Sister Barbara Sewell-Young (Steve). Robert was born June 7th, 1934 in Orofino, ID to Byron and Pauline (Holstein) Sewell. He graduated from Wallace High School in 1952 then attended the University of Idaho, working as a Hasher in Kappa Sigma Fraternity to put himself thru School. While there in Moscow, Bob built one of the World’s first electric cars which he often drove around campus and was featured in the November 1957 edition of Popular Mechanics. It was also during his time at U of I that he met his future wife, his ‘Florence Nightingale’ Nurse Helen Pugh. While home on Christmas break from College in December 1954, Bob developed Appendicitis and was rushed to the E.R. at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane where Helen just happened to be working that day and as they say…the rest was history. He married Helen Louise Pugh at the Hillyard Baptist Church on Sept. 15, 1956. After graduating from U of I in 1957 with a degree in Electrical Engineering, he worked for the Washington Water Power (Avista Corp.) from June 1957 to December 1989 when he took early retirement. In the late 1950’s/early 1960’s, Robert was instrumental in design and development of most of the region’s infrastructure of high-voltage Transmission and Distribution lines built to service the region’s burgeoning Hydroelectric Dams. He was published both regionally and nationally many times, receiving numerous awards for Inventions and patented devices. In 1970 he designed and built his and Helen’s ‘dream house’ on in north Spokane where he lived for 44 years. As Superintendent of Electric Underground and Water, Robert was a major cog in transforming the downtown core of Spokane for the World’s Fair in 1974. Robert was involved for many years in Lion’s Club, Eagles Lodge, Spokane Lilac Festival, Avista Corp. Trailblazers, U of I Alumni Association, enjoyed taking the family on Summer vacations all across the United States and boat camping at area lakes with the Spokane Yacht Club, owning and mounting accessories to unique one-of-a-kind Campers, collecting and wearing hats, was a student of history, loved reading books, loved museums, Auto Drive-away adventures, numerous excursions with Inland Empire Tours, ham radio, car shows, antique and vintage cars, jazz festivals, ‘Big Band’ music, playing in the U of I Pep Band, anything World War II, Hillyard Senior Center, the Silver Café, thrift stores, pawn shops, yard sales, classified ads, auctions and last but not least eating/food especially juice, milk, ice cream and anything chocolate! A Memorial Service will be held Friday December 12, 2014, 2:00 pm at Country Homes Christian Church, 8415 N. Wall Street (SW Corner of Wall and Country Homes Boulevard) Spokane, WA 99208 followed by fellowship time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Gospel Mission Ministries P.O. Cook’s Perpetual Electrical Generator

Daniel McFarland Cook is one of the names in the world of Free Energy that pops up once in a while but for the most part, not many people are familiar with his work.

“Crazy Cook” as he was called invented many things including an evaporator that revolutionized the sugar industry.

One of his inventions with lofty claims that nobody has been able to replicate, yet, is his Perpetual Electric Generator, which is patented until the title Improvement in Induction Coils.

Download a copy of this patent here: US119825

The way the circuit is wired reminds of of Leedskalnin’s “Perpetual Motion Holder” and a basic search online shows that a few people have tinkered with Cook’s idea – will anyone ever figure out what he did if it ever worked to begin with? We don’t know anytime it is claimed that an electric circuit can be turned on and continue to power a load without more input, then it at least deserves a second look.

Cook was also obsessed with making a ship that he claimed would fly into the sky at high speed and without a normal power source.

Watch this video by Timothy McKee who is a columnist who posted this story in a local town’s paper where Cook is from.  Check out the full story: Mansfield’s D.M. Cook and his enduring energy

U.S. Secret Patent Program

It has been public knowledge for a long time that the U.S. government has suppressed thousands of patents over many years.

What is not widely known is that there is a secret system to delay and withhold the approval of patents. This system is known as the Sensitive Application Warning System (SAWS). This has been known since March 2006.

Recently, there has been a new 50 page document released that actually shows the full range and reach of this system and it is shocking!

Adam Abraham – Phaelosopher

Earlier this year, Adam Abraham, a researcher, videographer and advocate for natural and safe  healing modalities, green energy solutions and other related topics, came to Spokane for business relating to his water research.

We had already connected in the past so this was a great opportunity to introduce him to a lot of the movers and shakers in the local area who are known in the “free energy” world. He met with John Bedini, Peter Lindemann, Paul Babcock and even stopped by to visit Eric Dollard on his way back down to Arizona.

Here are two videos that he posted on YouTube and there are more to come. The first is an interview with Peter Lindemann on what is Free Energy and the second is a brief overview of what we do at Tesla Chargers. Please give Adam’s videos a thumbs up to show your support and share this post with your friends!

Bionic Soil

A man from New Mexico creates a special formula that instantly turns soil into rock. His company is getting quite a bit of buzz and no doubt this is an incredible technology, but we’re not sure how this differs from what the Road Packers Group has been doing for years.

Clay is hydrophilic so it soaks up water. Some natural compounds can turn the covalent bonds in the aluminum silicate into ionic bonds and the clay becomes hydrophobic so it repels water and it also becomes harder than concrete. It’s non-toxic and the oil companies have used it for years to create hard dirt roads go hundreds of miles to the middle of nowhere.

This can be done with bricks to make homes with the same benefits – waterproof, fireproof, soundproof, etc…

Here is the recent news story: http://www.kob.com/article/stories/S3614560.shtml#.VGp4ZslU26I

Here is a discussion on the “Stabilized Earth Bricks” that is done with something that looks curiously identical to what this “bionic soil” inventor is claiming. http://www.energeticforum.com/renewable-energy/5287-stabilized-earth-brick.html

UPDATE – 2014/12/11:  Immediately after we posted this, we found the MSDS (Manufacturer’s Safety Data Sheet) that for the most part discloses what chemicals are used in this project except for a bit of proprietary information.

2015 Energy Science & Technology Conference

Energy Conference
Energy Conference

Next year’s conference will have a new date and new location. Instead of the last weekend of June, we’ll have it on July 10, 11 & 12. Also, instead of being at the Eagles Lodge in Hayden, Idaho, we’re having it 15 minutes south of there at the Eagles Lodge downtown Coeur d’Alene, Idaho – that way it will be in walking distance to all kinds of restaurants, etc.

We’ve tweaked the schedule so we’ll actually have 11 presentations, which is the most there have been at our conference and there are still plenty of breaks.

Check out the updates, photo albums, etc… Energy Conference
