For quite a few months, John’s brother Gary who has always managed the business side of things has been battling health issues and John has been taking care of him. I went out to this shop last week with Jeff Moe, my friend and business associate to pick up some sideband generators, talk about what John wanted to show at the next conference and the usual chit chat about the global state of affairs. When we left, I had no idea that would be the last time I would ever see him again.
Last night when Peter Lindemann called me two times in a row, I knew it was urgent and was expecting to hear that John’s brother Gary had passed. That part was true, but what I wasn’t prepared for was that 4 hours after Gary, John had died unexpectedly as well.
It’s always painful to lose a close friend – especially when they were so influential in many areas of one’s life. I’m stunned and speechless and don’t even know what to say. I will post more details when I learn more. There is a lot I would like to say about John right now, but just can’t.
In the meantime, please send your thoughts and prayers to John’s wife Ronda and the rest of his family. God bless you John for all that you have done for all of us and your countless contributions to this world to make it a better place. You’ve left more than a legacy my friend – Love you lots and already miss you dearly!

Fifteen years ago, Shawnee Baughman of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho was competing for an elementary school science project and an electronics wizard happened to work in the same building as her father. She was provided with a simple schematic and a bit of coaching. With that, she went off on her own to build a little motor that spun a wheel, lit an LED light, and ran from the same 9 volt battery for the entire five days of the science fair.
Shawnee won a Blue Ribbon for the science, and a special award for Best of Show, and ever since that time, the machine has been called the “School Girl Motor” or the “Bedini SG” for short.
John Bedini is an internationally acclaimed audio engineer who has many claims to fame, which include developing the first solid state audio amplifiers that actually replicated the sound qualities of the old vacuum tube models. But his favorite hobby has always been the study of advanced energy conservation methods using unconventional electromagnetic principles that most engineers have never heard of.
The Bedini SG has since taken the world by storm, spreading far and wide across the internet, and allowing countless thousands of people to build their own model and study the physics involved. Just about anybody can get one to spin, but only a handful have ever achieved a level of performance that demonstrates what some would consider “free energy.”
Many experts claim this is impossible, but actually there are many systems that produce more work than we’re required to supply, because the excess energy is provided by the environment. A good example of this is the refrigerator. This ordinary kitchen appliance typically operates with a “coefficient of performance” of 2.0, which means that twice as much heat is removed from inside than the equivalent electricity used to do it. Most scientist believe that this kind of performance is only possible with heat systems, but John Bedini and others have demonstrated these principles with electromagnetics as well.
In 1977, Ilya Prigogine received a Nobel Prize for what is basically an extension to conventional thermodynamics, which only describe how heat operates in “closed systems.” Those are systems that are cut off from any external form of energy. Prigogine’s work helped to extend our understanding of thermodynamics to include systems that are open to the environment, which slows the appearance of entropy down and allows more total work to be done than what we have to supply. That is exactly what the Bedini SG demonstrates in a simple and most elegant way.
Several years ago, A & P Electronic Media, a digital publishing company founded by Aaron Murakami and Peter Lindemann published the first ever authoritative book on Bedini’s technology. Murakami and Lindemann have collectively known John Bedini for over 45 years and both have been personally mentored by him.

What this process does is take the high voltage spikes from an electromagnetic oscillator and charge a capacitor with them. This capacitor is then discharged into a load, such as a lead acid battery.
Engineers are normally taught to ground these spikes out so they don’t damage other electronics on an electrical line. In fact, that is what a “surge protector” is designed to do. Through experimentation, John discovered that these electrical transients have a number of unusual characteristics. One of these benefits includes the ability to charge batteries extremely efficiently, and even revive some batteries that are considered dead.
Although many engineers claim these spikes can’t charge a battery because they are just high voltage with virtually no current, there are thousands upon thousands of global experiments being conducted with these circuits that prove otherwise. And if these spikes are used to charge a capacitor and then that capacitor is discharged into a battery, even more amazing results can be had. And this is one of the methods for using electricity that Nikola Tesla developed back in 1893. John’s circuits are literally a miniaturized version of some of Tesla’s greatest discoveries.

The finale to this paradigm-shattering trilogy teaches the reader how to convert the mechanical work produced on the wheel into even more electricity, in an extremely efficient way. For years, the “Lithium Ion” battery has dominated the market whenever high capacity, small size and low weight were application requirements. That means, they have been used exclusively in cell phones, Tablet computers, Laptops, and most of the new high capacity portable tools. But that is not all. They are also used in the newer Hybrid electric automobiles and even the latest transcontinental commercial airliners, like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
Although these batteries have a very high energy density for their size and weight, they can also be dangerous if they are not charged properly. You may recall some of the stories in the last few years about laptop computers bursting into flames, and even the whole fleet of 787 airliners being grounded because of battery fires. So, behind the scenes, the battery industry has been trying to develop a battery that has all of the benefits of Lithium Ion batteries, but none of the dangers.
Over the last two years, a new type of Lithium battery has been quietly showing up on the market. In the last 6 months, this battery has started becoming available in almost all sizes and for almost all applications. This battery is called the Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, and is referred to as the LiFePO4 for short.
This new kid on the block, has a slightly lower energy density than the typical “Lithium Ion” batteries (about 14% less), but they are much safer to use than either Lithium Ion or even the standard Lead Acid batteries are. The cost of the LiFePO4 batteries are still fairly high, but the prices are coming down pretty fast at this point.
Here’s a picture of a Lead Acid battery used to start a car next to its equivalent battery in the LiFePO4 chemistry. You can see from this that the battery is about half the size and only one fifth the weight. Now THAT is a better battery!
But the best thing about these batteries is their safety. The LiFePO4 battery doesn’t have a liquid electrolyte, so it can’t leak or boil out to make a mess, and you never need to add water. It can be charged quickly without harming the battery, so it won’t over-heat. And best of all, there is NO FIRE DANGER like with the more common types of Lithium Ion batteries.
In fact, you may have already been using these LiFePO4 batteries and didn’t even know it. Many of the solar yard lights sold in the last year actually use these batteries. They get charged throughout the day and when it gets dark, the light comes on and runs the light until the battery goes completely dead! In the morning, the process starts over. And, this is done day after day after day for months and the battery still seems to be working fine.
That is one of the biggest benefits of these new LiFePO4 batteries – they can take a serious beating and still come back over and over! There isn’t another type of battery out there that can take this kind of treatment. Any other battery, such as a sealed lead acid type, would be on its death bed if it took that kind of abuse.
The LiFePO4 batteries also have a much higher life cycle rating than lead acids or the common “Lithium Ion” batteries. That means you can charge and discharge them many more times.
The LiFePO4 batteries are also a constant voltage battery. For example, with a lead acid battery, as you power a load, the voltage goes down little by little until it takes a nose dive. With the LiFePO4, you pretty much get the full voltage as you’re powering a load with them for nearly the entire time and then suddenly, they drop off a cliff. This is much more desirable because you get full power for most of the capacity of the battery, which you won’t get with lead acid batteries.
If you were in an emergency situation and needed a power supply for some light, a radio, a mobile phone charger, etc… what kind of battery would you want? There definitely is no comparison – the only kind of battery to have on hand in an emergency situation is a LiFePO4, no contest.
As you may have heard, Tesla Motors is creating a $5 Billion factory to mass produce “Lithium Ion” battery banks in order to make the mass production of electric cars a reality. The goal is to have a 200 miles range for the battery bank, which will actually be made by Panasonic. If they produced a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery as an option, the cars would have a 172 mile range, but the batteries would last much longer and they would be environmentally friendly.
Also, this could drastically reduce the cost of Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries, which would revolutionize the entire battery industry, not just for automobile applications, but also for back up battery banks in solar applications as well.
For quite a while now, John Bedini, a world-renown expert in battery charging technologies has manufactured the most effective chargers and rejuvenators for lead acid batteries commercially available to the public. These chargers have been shown to be able to bring about 80% of the batteries doomed for the dump back to many more years of useful service.
Unfortunately, these charging and rejuvenation technologies were never compatible with the common “Lithium Ion” batteries, primarily because of the problems in the battery itself.
Fortunately, John Bedini has created a small line of solar charge controllers made specifically for the new LiFePO4 batteries. That means that the ultimate in small-scale emergency solar systems are now available, which completely surpass any other similar sized solar energy system.
This new line of chargers is part of Tesla Chargers solar charge controller line known as the Tesla Solar Tracker 5’s. The LiFePO4 solar charge controllers are rated for 12 volt 3 amp and 12 volt 7.5 amp solar arrays. That is roughly 45 watts and 110 watts of solar panels respectively.
