Salterwater and Graphene Produce Electricity

Researchers in China discovered that by dragging salt water over graphene, electricity is produced. It is only a small amount but it paves the way for future possibilities. Perhaps the future hydro generator is to run water over a flat surface of graphene instead of turning a turbine.

Carbon Battery Chargers 20 Times Faster than Lithium Ion

Carbon has been used in batteries for many years. The difference with this one is that both the anode and cathode are made of carbon and it charges 20 times faster than Lithium Ion batteries.

For example, with this technology, you can charge a Nissan Leaf electric car in 12 minutes instead of 4 hours!

Sugar Battery

Here is an interesting story about a new type of battery that runs on sugar and is supposed to out perform lithium ion batteries. To recharge them, they just need to be filled back up with a sugar solution: http://www.design-engineering.com/electronics/re-chargable-sugar-based-battery-outperforms-lithium-ion-researchers-say-130456
